Ahoy!

The next shindig will be taking place at the Gwyn's house on October 14th at 4PM. We are excited about the surprises we have in store.

In the meantime, check out Gwyn's pics! And KK's pics!

Pics of the big event

Here are pics of our awesome displays and the like...better late than never, right? We got a shutter from a dumpster, cleaned and spraypainted it, and voila! Otherwise, G made trees from sticks, woot!

The Aftermath
Hard to believe it is over a week since the first gig. Xmas in July was not the roaring success we dreamed of, but was a good show and valuable experience. We learned, or realized in hindsight, what we could have done better. Display and product is not a problem. It looked awesome and everyone attending loved the work. Poor turnout could have been due to a few mistakes on our part. I sent a lot of invites, but did not really explain what we are trying to create, ie. a working business. As a person of many ventures, my people may have thought it just another party. Also, we did not follow up on invites :-( People in mid summer are busy, and forgetful, and on vacation. I guess the lesson learned is, if you build it, they don't always come. Sorry Kevin Costner. This 'field of dreams' will require a bit more work. Next up

It's Craftastik Eve
We made it. Tomorrow is the debut of The Craftastiks at our first annual Christmas in July sale. It has been a lot of work and we hit a few glitches, but we are ready!
We hung "The Gallery" last night and I must say it looks amazing (photos to come). A few things didn't fit as we planned, but it all worked out in the end. A question to ponder...Who puts chair rail in a hallway...why??? That sucker will be coming down posthaste. A lesson learned, or relearned, you get what you pay for. We ordered biz cards at a price to good to be true and we got what we paid for. Being craftastik however, we decided to use the reject cards as bag labels and reordered from a more reliable source. Nothing lost.Today will be spent finishing displays and hoping for no storms. Just to keep it interesting Mother Nature has provided us with wicked weather and power outages the past 2 weeks. So, keep your fingers crossed and don't mess with Mother Nature...whatever that means ;-)
Aloha -G

Craft show, easy?

In the last month, G and I have:

- Designed a logo
- Printed business cards
- Printed invitations
- Addressed and mailed invitations
- Created jewelry inventories
- Tagged and priced our goods
- Photographed our goods
- Listed our stuff on Etsy
- Purchased display materials
- Pillaged the dumpster for neat/different display materials
- Rubberstamped our goodie bags
- Planned surprises for our guests
- Created and updated a Craftastiks blog
- Made Craftastiks t-shirts

...and, oh yes, created tons of new jewelry!

In the works...
It's busy around here (for a change...)

I finished matting and/or framing my prints that will be going up for sale.

Also did a commissioned piece for a friend (hooray! Commission!) I love Photoshop, and haven't been having much time with it at home lately, so the past few hours spent tinkering have been happy ones.

The game plan for this week: distribute business cards, announce website, plan surprises for super-mega Craftastiks party, tag and photograph jewelry as it's made, and generally tie up loose ends in an effort to be a 'real' business. And last, but not least, I will order t-shirts for the Craft Squad! (What the hell is the Craft Squad? Stay tuned...)

The Truth is...
Gwyn was in Cape Cod and oblivious whilst Kristen plugged away in cyberland to create this. Good job K. Now what can I say to enlighten folks about me, or just entertain myself. I have been a latent artist for many years earning my way at everything from Slubbing (don't be afraid to ask) to art teacher. Thanks to Kristen's persistence I am now on my way to big bucks (or any bucks) through creative endeavors, while saving the noble shopper from WalMart. The big Christmas in July sale will be our introduction to the world, or eastern PA! 18 days to go....

Yours Truly

What's the Deal?

We're artists, we're tired of mass-produced goods, and we've combined our creative energies for the sake of saving the earth. It's a little like Captain Planet, if you must know.
